We have Scouts and Guides activities during the first period on all Wednesdays.  Regular training is given to Scouts , Guides , Cubs and Bulbuls during the period.  Children are divided into partrol groups.  Patrol groups are given separate names and flags.  Regular training in various items such as B.P.6 excercises, Scouts / Guides marching , Knottings, Lashings , Whippings, First Aid etc is given to the students during the period.  Vegetable Gardening, plantation of trees, cleaning in and around the vidyalaya are some of the other activities.  Besides this proper classes and guidance are given to the selected scouts and guides to make them particiate in the Thrithiya sopan, Rajyapuraskar and Rashtrapathi Award testing camps.

A nature study cum adventure camp was conducted for Scouts and Guides of KV INS Dronacharya, Kochi at Periyar Tiger Reserve, Thekkadi from 25th July 2018 to 27th July 2018.  Thekkadi is situated 170 kms from cochin and it takes approximately 6-7 hours to reach there. The route is a combination of hills as well as normal roads. 

On the 25th of July, four scouts, three guides along with the escort teacher set off from Mundamveli at about 11:15 am and managed to reach Angamaly by 02:30 pm.  The bus from Calicut KV reached Angamaly at about 04:30 pm  and they accompanied with 28 students and 05 escort teachers from there. They reached there on 25th night at about 09:30.   The park is often called Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary or Thekkadi. It covers an area of 925

The next day they were made themselves ready to go into the forest to have a look at the way different organisms live their way of life. There are about 816 species of fauna among which they were only able to see Nilgiri Langoor, Monkeys, Deers, a Gaur specie and many butterfly. They were escorted   four of the forest officials with two leading in the front and two at the back. They saw tiger marks in the trees and different plant species. They were then taken to the interpretation centre where they were provided with information regarding the different flora and fauna in the forest. In the night they met  Mr. Abeesh, a snake charmer, who had a record of catching 30-40 cobras in just 24 hours. He had made them aware about different snakes anf snakebites along with Mr. Mathew, the range officer giving some information about the Periyar Tiger Reserve.

The next day they were planned to go for bird watching. After which they had their dinner and went to sleep.

The last day that is 27th of July in in the morning, 6:00 am .they went for bird watching where they saw whistling school boy, a wood pecker and different other birds. They also saw an Indian giant squirrel, a sambhar deer and many monkeys hanging on the branches of trees.  In their path in the forest  they saw a swarm of honeybees.

Charity Initiatives by the Vidyalaya.

The Scouts of class XI along with the Scout Master Mr. Harikumar, TGT(WET) and Mr. Sreekumar, TGT(Art) visited “Snehabhavan” an orphanage for children at Palluruthy. The children has donated rice, dal, peas, nuts etc to the inmates. The Scouts interacted with sixty children of the Snehabhavan, who all are in the age group of 8 to 15. The Scouts played games with the children and has exhibited the value of empathy and charity.

1. KV INS DRONACHARYA has 6th position among 40 KVs out of Ernakulam Region and first position in Defence Sector. Four students of KV INS DRONACHARYA secured centum in Economics of Class XII.
KV INS DRONACHARYA - has 100% Pass in the classes X and XII for the academic year 2017-18.
2. PI of Class XII is 82.03. Aiswarya S Prabhu (Science stream) secured 482/500 i.e 96.4 % and Sai Kripa (Commerce stream) secured 484/500 i.e 96.8 %. Sai Kripa is the regional topper of Ernakulam Region.
3. All 101 Students of Class XII secured more than 60 % marks in aggregate.
